Letting It Go: Is your environment healthy for you?

I'm a big fan of the Law of Attraction. What I love it about it is, whether or not you believe it is true, it's constantly working. A few short minutes of examining your own life can show how it is working for you. Yep, that's right. You are already using it, even if you don't know it.

Now before I share the rest of this post, let me add this small disclaimer. The only expertise I have on this subject is how I use it in my own life. I have no degree. I'm simply a researcher who saw something that made sense to me and I started reading and following everything I could about it, and applying it to my own life.

And it worked.

And it can work for you, too.

But instead of writing a massive post trying to fit in my entire experience with the Law of Attraction, (also know as LOA) I decided it might be fun to do individual post on different aspects of what has worked for me.

For this post you only need to know the answer to one simple question...the most IMPORTANT thing to know when using the LOA.

Simply put, all of creation is made up of energy. Just like you learned in science class, energy attracts like energy. So how you FEEL is the energy frequency you are sending out into the Universe.

If you feel bad, that is what you are attracting to you.

Much like the day that starts off all wrong; your alarm didn't go off, you spilled your coffee, your car had a flat tire, you were late for work, your boss is mad...whether or not you live a lifestyle like this or not, I'm sure you've had days where everything seems to go wrong. Our attitude becomes upset, we start to grow angry, and more and more bad things keep happening.

It doesn't have to be this way.

All you need to do is change how you FEEL for your day to immediately switch around and start going the right way.

As human beings, we are meant to FEEL JOY, and when we feel joy we are able to bring our vibrations up so that JOY starts seeping into all aspects of out lives.

I remember writing my first book and having no idea what to do with it, but I was EXCITED. I sent out query letters and someone wanted my book! When it got published, I remember getting to hold it for the first time and dancing around my house with it. When a movie producer asked me for it, it was late at night, so I jumped in my car and cranked the music, singing at the top of my lungs. I drove to where my husband was working night shift as an RN at our local hospital, hugged him, and we treated ourselves to ice cream.

It was after that I started noticing that more good things kept happening to me every time I celebrated my accomplishments...and not just in the book world, but in my regular life, too.

How was that possible?

Because I was so happy all the time, that when I thought about other things while feeling that way, I attracted more of that to me, too. Before long, I felt like a positivity freight train that nothing could stop. I was making money hand over fist in book sales, with many of my monthly royalty checks being more than most people make in a year.

And then I sabotaged myself.

All this extreme success became so overwhelming. Suddenly, all I could think of was how I needed to constantly maintain this level of success. I started doubting everything that had worked for me in the past and began taking business advise from someone else, who was supposedly more knowledgable than me.

Everything tanked.

Fear began to grip me, desperation to try and get back to where I was. I was angry over bad advice. I was angry because someone had stolen an idea from me. I was angry because someone plagiarized one of my books. My health deteriorated badly, and suddenly I felt like I was at the bottom of a pit with no way out.

I needed to figure out a way to FEEL GOOD again. But it's hard to WANT to feel good when you already feel bad. Sometimes wallowing in our misery becomes the only joy we have. It becomes a crutch, and it can be very hard to let it go.

How did I do it?

Picture something relaxing to help improve how you feel.
Slowly. I started out with little things. I would look at pictures that made me feel peaceful. If you can't go on an actual vacation, you can VISUALIZE something you find relaxing. Maybe sitting on the beach works for you, or maybe you enjoy camping. Not a nature person? Maybe you always find comfort in reading a good book with a glass of wine, or taking a hot relaxing bath. It doesn't matter what it is, it just needs to be something to help you "feel better." You don't need to be doing excited cartwheels across your lawn, you just need to feel better, and then build from there.

For me, once I was tuned into the LOA and more consciously aware of how I was feeling, I began to see everyday things I was doing that were creating discord in my environment. If I didn't like the way something made me feel, I changed it. I either found away around it, found a way to think positively about it, or I removed it from my life completely.

It wasn't always an easy thing to do. I had to make some BIG life changing decisions in different areas. But immediately, I could feel a shift in my environment as the toxicity in my life began to melt away, and once again positive changes began happening for me. Bigger paychecks came back, people showed up my life right when I needed them, some of my health issue improved drastically, and the list goes on.

This is still an every day process for me, but I enjoy it. I'm learning and growing. Somedays I have a hard time. When that happens, I reevaluate everything and I search for what is causing the discord so I can fix it and find a way to feel BETTER.

So my question for you is this: HOW DO YOU FEEL?

If your life isn't feeling the way you want, it may be time to reevaluate and Let It Go!

*For some really great resources from the "experts" of the Law of Attraction, I suggest either reading the book or watching the movie, "The Secret" (free on Netflix) by Rhonda Byrne. Rhonda has several books that follow The Secret as well, including, The Magic, The Power, Hero, and The Gratitude Book, all of which I have read and used. I also recommend Jeannette Maw, Good Vibe Coach. You can find her books, and awesome blog at GoodVibeCoach.com. Both of these are my main resources for LOA materials I have used. Very uplifting.)
