On the Personal Side: Talking Makeup and Hair with author Lacey Weatherford!

Author Lacey Weatherford - 2015

As many already know, I recently shaved my hair off in support of a friend with cancer. It has been so fun to debut my "bald" head. I chose to reveal it in stages, since I have suffered with such long term illness, myself. I didn't want to scare people and make them think that I had cancer. So I bought a wig (top left) to wear places and once I tell people, I will often take it off, because face it, my hair feels kind of free and liberating right now! :)

Well, my girls (ages 11, 16, and 24) and I had SO MUCH FUN with that wig that I ended up buying a whole bunch more. My family is full of musical theater majors and we are always building our "costume closet," so I thought, "Why not?" We've been having a BLAST ever since. Oh. My. Gosh! I don't think I've laughed so hard! It's been great fun!

I used to wear my hair very long when I was younger (to my waist), and my natural color is very close to the larger dark haired image in the collage. My hair keeps getting darker as I've grown older, until it is very near black now . . . except for the massive gray streak I've been trying to hide since I was 25. I'm letting it grow back in natural now, to see if I like it with the streak. As long as it doesn't make me feel "old" I will keep it. Not that there is anything wrong with being old, I just can't seem to "grow old gracefully." hahaha It's simply not how I roll. ;)

Speaking of makeup, I get a lot of people asking me about that, too. I have no formal make up training. I just look at pictures and videos of things I like in fashion and try to copy them. I am highly allergic to most cosmetics products, so when it comes to makeup, I use mostly Physician's Formula products, since they use all natural products . . . EXCEPT for my mascara, which is Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume. I'm blessed with very thick lashes, so I don't curl them or add extension to them.
