He had everything, but the one thing he wanted...

He had everything, but the one thing he wanted...

I've long wanted to do a special feature that would allow me, the author, to have a platform to discuss my love of the stories I've written, why I did the things I did, and what some of the super cool behind the scenes moments were, such as:
  • book signings
  • photoshoots with cover models
  • character interviews
  • backstories
  • scenes that didn't make it into the books
  • OOPS moments that made me laugh
  • why I wrote the book.
Since this is way too much information for one post, I will be doing a
SPECIAL BOOK FEATURE OF THE WEEK CALLED
THE BOOK DATE!
The Book Date is like the "special features" that come with your favorite blockbuster movies, with outtakes and gag reels and personal insight. This "date" gives you a chance to try out a book before you commit to it. Haha! Now this date WON'T treat you to dinner, but it will offer you a chance to win some treats of your own, so keep coming back for more goodies and even some giveaways!

Lacey's Thoughts:
I had the beginning scenes of this story in my head for at least a couple of years. I originally made another cover for it and title, but as the story progressed in my mind, I knew that would no longer be a fit. When I happened across an image of the Hollywood sign in California, that was when the title concept was born.

As I wrote this story, I had one deep message I wanted to convey to the reader. I knew this story would be darker and grittier than others I've written in the past. That is because there are some deep hurts and secrets in this story. One thing I have noticed about the world around me, is that people seem quick to ditch out on others when the going gets rough.

I was taught that is the time people need us most.

I was also taught that each person's situation is different, and we are on the outside. Every life is shaped by different circumstances. That means no two humans think exactly the same...EVER. That means we all respond to things differently, which is why judgement against others is often so harmful, especially when we aren't operating with all the facts.

In the case of this story, I wanted to show deep, traumatizing hurt, that suddenly becomes redeveloped in love. I believe love has the power to heal everything, because real love is unconditional.

Mr. Hollywood is the story of a talented young man who gets to leave the farm and chores for the glitz and fame of Hollywood, but once he's there, he sees behind the facade and realizes the one thing he really wanted was the girl he left on the farm...but now it's too late...too, too late. But sometimes love can work miracles, even when a man can't.
