Time is like water

  Time flies like water

Time had come to the end of 2008.

Many things happened during this time.

There are many people related to Yoon Hyun and there are also many who have nothing to do with him.

He watched himself and the world like an outsider.

It started with the annual "Dream Concert" where an incident that would later affect the entire Korean entertainment industry occurred, known as the "Black Ocean Incident". Girls' Generation was boycotted by fans of Super Junior and TVXQ who turned off their fanlights and chanted "Wirls" when they took the stage.

Actually, whether it's right or wrong in between, it all has to do with fans.

But the ones who were really hurt were those nine poor girls.

Almost at the same time, Yin Xian dialed Lin Yun'er's phone number. Listening to the other end of the line, that girl who was always carefree and smiling cried for half an hour before hanging up the phone.

He actually knew all along that this would eventually happen. But he still looked on just like that. There were some things he was powerless to do anything about.

Next, Kim Jong-kook made a comeback to the music scene with "Fool for You", written and composed by Yoon Hyun-sang, and successfully topped various music download sites, announcing the return of this former triple crown winner.

Kim Jong-kook's song also brought attention to Yoon Hyun, who had completely disappeared from the public eye except for the variety show "Infinite Challenge".

Where did Yoon Hyun go? Or, what is Yoon Hyun doing besides the program that airs once a week and was barely kept by MBC thanks to Liu Zai Shi's efforts?

It wasn't until August that the public found out through an editorial in The Chosun Ilbo that Yun Hyon, a controversial figure who was once widely admired and then widely despised, had been hiding out at Seoul University for several months. During this time, Yun Hyon had published three philosophical papers in reputable magazines, which were praised for their originality and creativity. Even his university professor blogged to ask anti-Yun Hyon fans to increase their boycott of him, so that a true academic talent wouldn't be led astray...

In his view, Yoon Hyun's attitude towards those things in the entertainment industry is like a parent watching their child get addicted to online games...

If it weren't for the law against electric shocks, he would have used it a long time ago...

As these things happened, another thing that seemed unrelated to Yin Xian but was actually related occurred.

A little girl with a stage name IU performed her debut stage at Music Core.

Yoon Hyun received a text message from Lee Ji-eun, who had not contacted him for half a year, reminding him to watch that episode of Music Core.

And when IU appeared on stage, Yoon Hyun became foolish. Isn't this the little girl who followed behind him?

  Has she debuted?

Yin Xian suddenly vaguely knew why she quietly left her home and returned to the company dormitory, and why she hadn't seen her for such a long time.

I thought she was in love, but it turns out she's preparing for her debut!

Yoon Hyun, who was originally delighted and excited, suddenly felt a sense of guilt for no reason when he saw IU on stage pretending to be deep and melancholic, singing songs that didn't have any special features.

My god, this is our own student, our own sister! How can she debut like this, singing such a weird song?

There aren't even a hundred people like that in a year, let alone eighty. My students can't just blend in with the crowd!

My sister must be the brightest one on stage!

As soon as the live broadcast ended, Li Zhen received a text message from Yin Xian: "Come home for dinner tonight."

When Lee Ji-eun, whose eyes were already swollen from crying, walked into Yoon Hyun's house with Kim Soo-young by her side, Yoon Hyun was really taken aback.

"Are you the one who urged Chi-eon to come out?" Yoon Hyun looked at Kim Soo-hyun with a expressionless face.

Kim Soo-hyun, who was in a worse mental state than Lee Ji-eun, shook her head and said, "When I took over, it was already the last moment."

Yoon Hyun nodded and then bowed deeply to Kim Soo-hyun, saying:

  Korean Entertainment's Protective Power

"Zhi En, I'll need you to take care of things more often from now on, sorry for the trouble."

Kim Soo-hyun shook her head and said, "She's my sister, of course I care about her." Then she turned around and left Yoon Hyun's house.

"OPPA......" Lee Ji-eun... Ah, I should call her IU now. IU looked at Yoon Hyun with a bit of fear and said in a low tone.

"Change into slippers before entering the house. Dinner is almost ready." Yoon Hyun said nothing more, just saying a sentence like reminding his younger sister who was coming home.

A big table of sumptuous dinner, with Chinese and Korean dishes. There was also a large banner hanging in the dining hall: Celebrating the successful debut of superstar IU!

And so, in IU's tears, this debut celebration dinner that only had her and Yoon Hyun appeared ended like this.

Although Yoon Hyun was trying to find ways to encourage, the fact remains that IU's debut did not stir up any waves and almost disappeared quietly from the music scene.

Lee Ji-eun reappeared at Yoon Hyun's house and returned to her old routine of running and practicing every day.

Just a few days later, Yoon Hyun had another event. Following the Infinite Challenge team, he returned to a place where he had lived for thirty years.

  Beijing.

Olympic Special: Unlimited Challenge of Photography.

Yoon Hyun has returned to this land many times in his dreams, but after getting off the plane, although he can understand every word of the people around him and even read the stories behind many words and smiles, he still feels like a stranger.

It's as if this place and that land which once nurtured him had nothing to do with each other.

When he was wearing a T-shirt and shorts like every ordinary Beijing young man, shuttling through the unfamiliar yet familiar streets, he suddenly felt very bewildered.

So Toutiao Wang's famous song "Beijing, Beijing" became the most direct reflection of his inner heart at this moment.

He finally understood why, despite having the ability to return for a long time, he had never thought of doing so. When he couldn't find any evidence of his existence near his childhood home in his memories, he realized that his hometown could only exist forever in his dreams.

When he finished recording the special program and had a simple dinner with his busy father who almost had no time, when he boarded the flight to Seoul again, he quietly grabbed a handful of soil and put it in his water bottle.

Later, the soil was placed in a flower pot on his windowsill along with some soil he had dug up from downstairs at home. In the flower pot, an ordinary cactus was being raised.

Then Yoon Hyun uploaded a Chinese song on the audio source.

Unlike before when Yoon Hyun's new song immediately topped the music charts, this time the song only stayed in the top 10 for a day and then dropped out of the rankings.

Just as people in the entertainment industry were preparing to attack Yoon Hyun and JoongAng Ilbo, this song triggered a craze in China.

In fact, this song is just a pop rock with a decent quality, the most impressive part of this song are those two lines of lyrics:

I laughed here, I cried here

I live here, I die here

Later on, it was added with a repeated "们" character.

This song was originally just a popular song that could have had some sales.

But what makes this song different is the identity of its author. The author and singer of this song is a Korean!

Moreover, this song also evoked the worries of many Korean students and working individuals living in Beijing.

Then, a month after the song was released, it was pushed back to the top of the music chart by overseas Koreans, especially those living in China.

Then those articles that previously mocked and ridiculed Yoon Hyun in a hurry became the top post of Yoon Hyun's fan café.

The name of the post is: They laugh here, they die here.

Yoon Hyun also passed his doctoral dissertation defense and received a Ph.D. from Seoul National University, according to an article by a commentator of the Chosun Ilbo.

He became the youngest Ph.D. graduate from Seoul National University and also the fastest student to complete his undergraduate and doctoral studies at Seoul National University in history.

All of this, just three years.
