Chapter 19: The Flying Parasol
We arrived at Konstantin Square in the late afternoon.
Constantine Square is famous for its numerous exquisite statues and stone tablets, but it was destroyed after the Fourth Crusade. Later, the Mongols came and played a role in the global demolition office, demolishing from east to west. Some of the artworks that survived on the square were taken away as building materials for defensive equipment.
Now, hundreds of years later, the Mongols have retreated to the great desert, and the Column of Constantine, symbolizing the great achievements of Emperor Constantine, stands tall in this garden-like square.
Under the sun, the monument's reflection rotates slowly like a pointer, faithfully recording the passage of time for this ancient empire. The lush green grass and dense woods have replaced the weathered statues and stone tablets that surround it, while the city's inhabitants often come here to cool off and take a stroll in the evening.
As it would take some time to attend to these matters, I told the wide-eyed Frederick and Hans that they could get out and look around the square.
Strolling on the shaded path, my eyes swept across the vast square, where people were sitting or walking in twos and threes. A girl holding a parasol and poking at tree trunks with it caught my attention.
She wore a small hat on her head, hiding her black hair, and the soft, fluffy feathers at the back of her head fluttered in the wind. Her light-colored lace dress, combined with a creamy white blouse and champagne-colored satin ribbon, was a stark contrast to Wendy's solemn dignity that morning. This outfit was full of youthful vitality and sweet charm, forming a beautiful picture under the shade of the trees on the green grass, bathed in soft, radiant light... Of course, if you didn't look at the parasol in her hand, which she used as a spear, it would be just so.
"Whoosh!!"
"Wow! ~"
One after another, the dark shadows flashed by, and she could use an umbrella as if it were a long spear, which was also considered a talent for a girl. And I could feel her aura of killing intent and substantial resentment from several meters away, should I call her a martial arts prodigy who is one in ten thousand?
"We had an agreement, but now you're nowhere to be found! You're a despicable scoundrel with no credibility! Devil, you'll rot in hell! Die, you damn rascal! Stinky villain! How dare you deceive me! I'll poke, I'll poke, I'll poke!! Poke!! I'll poke you to death!"
The ladylike aura has vanished...
The aura of the turtle is coming straight at me...
A chill ran down his spine...
I opened my mouth, should I call her?
Forget it, I'm afraid that umbrella will turn into an iron boot and shoot a cannonball at my face with the speed of a six-pounder after I open my mouth, I don't dare to compare myself to Wang Chongyang.
I quietly walked around to the back of the girl, three meters away under the Constantine column, and sat down. My ears kept hearing the swear words coming out of the girl's small mouth.
"Damn it, I've had enough!!!... I'm going home!!!!..."
"Oh, God! I've waited for so long, I won't give up now! He must be coming! I swear if he appears before my eyes in the next second, I'll forgive him just a little bit! Bastard, damn scoundrel, hurry up and show yourself!"
"Arrogant! Shameless!! Bastard, bastard!! Bastard!!!! [Red] Naked evil rascal! Should be thrown into the Middle Ages, let the clergy throw you on the cross to judge the devil!! I hate you to death!!!"
The girl is a well-bred noble lady, which can be seen from her limited vocabulary of insults. It's always the same few phrases, accompanied by that sweet and tender voice, it's kind of cute, soft and fluffy. It seems like listening to the girl cursing with that voice from a few meters away for an entire afternoon is also not a bad choice.
But I quickly dismissed the idea as Hans and Friedrich approached, having spotted the conspicuous girl from the crowd and also caught sight of me quietly sitting in the back. Judging by their whispering to each other, they seemed to be hesitant about whether to approach the girl who possessed a weapon with great killing power empty-handed.
But before the two of them could walk over, something unexpected appeared. The girl turned her head at this time and transformed into a parasol with a long spear-like tip that poked back and forth, coming to an abrupt stop.
It was just a glance, and I was struck by her stunning beauty. The girl who had been facing away from me was beautiful, but in a different way than Wendy's beauty. The great beauty of a mature woman is the familiar charm and elegance that comes with age, which cannot be cultivated to produce the kind of captivating charm that she has, with every smile and frown revealing a thousand different emotions. A young girl's beauty, on the other hand, is a pure and innocent beauty, with a delicate and tender complexion, although bright and radiant, yet still with a hint of naivety, this unique youthful vitality was fully revealed in her at this moment.
But this stunning sight lasted only for a moment, and it disappeared right after I smiled slightly on my own initiative.
The girl's eyes widened in horror! Of course, aside from the horror, her eyes also hid many other emotions - embarrassment, shame, and indignation. Her expression was as if she had seen a ghost. Suddenly, her small mouth opened slightly, as if she would scream at any moment. The next second, her face turned pale. Following that, it flushed red again. The change was so fast, the expressions were so rich, and after another second, I estimated that her terror value had reached its peak. She opened her mouth and let out a heaven-shaking, earth-shattering scream, comparable to a lion's roar, or the sound of the sky falling apart: "Ahh~~~"
My mind was heavily struck, and subconsciously I closed my eyes. When I opened them again, I found that the whole scene had been dominated by her. Just a few hundred gazes, as if they were tangible, suddenly focused on my face!
Those eyes... suspicious... hostile... and eager to try...
I'm not a hoodlum!
So what should others do in this situation?
I don't know, but somehow I instinctively got up and wanted to grab her, take her away from here!
Guess what happened next?
That parasol, it's actually a Roman version of the deadly Linglingqi from China, not only can it transform into a sharp spear, but with a swoosh, it can also turn into a six-pound cannon and shoot out cannonballs!!
I almost peed my pants! What the heck?!
Fortunately, I estimate that the girl has chosen the Frenzy talent, not Sword Storm but Recklessness, which greatly increases damage while reducing accuracy even more. A black shadow flashed by and a loud crash was heard as the umbrella smashed into the Constantine Column. Thank goodness!
Do you think it's over?
The girl opposite threw out her sunshade and, after I took a step forward, made a move that left me stunned! She lifted the hem of her skirt and brushed off like a rabbit, escaping several meters away!
Is she leaving now?
Of course not! If it were that simple, it would be great! Right after that, she seemed to realize why she wanted to escape and froze in place! A pretty face turned around with an extremely awkward expression, looked at me for a moment, and the deep regret in her eyes made my chest tremble. But what's even more shocking is yet to come, guess what?
She let out a "Woo" and sat straight down on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably!
The gazes that had been drawn away by her series of actions all returned to me again!
"... I..." I pointed at myself.
"Her..." I pointed at her.
"She..." I pointed at myself again.
Forget it...it's hard to defend oneself against baseless accusations...
