Chapter 6: Addressing Lady Deveins concerns

The decree came to mind; it was one of many that the port of Fartell ignored, likely because of the protection offered by the Soalis temple, which prevented men from being cast out of the city, despite the god himself not issuing such a decree. This honestly was a rather dangerous move to make, in her own eyes, but one many seemed to think was rather smart as it would look bad if the city whose patron was the protector of men.

Bella nodded, "Therefore we as a whole have agreed to attempt this Lady Devein. We will receive no justice here. In honest, you and I both know that this has been a long time in coming. If it wasn't me. It would be someone else. At least this way I limit the risk to those wronged. Naomi has assisted me at least once in this endeavor, that I know of by helping me gain access to my father's study."

Lady Devein fought to keep her own emotions in check hearing the way Bella blatantly ignored the risk of what could happen to all of them should things not play out the way she was expecting. Lady Devein hated to pick at her students words but it came to her like second nature form her own past, “Minimized? Bella the risk is far greater for everyone. Unless-“Lady Devein trailed off rather shocked that Bella was willing to go so far. Perhaps she was more like her father than she knew, “Your planning on using the others as cover should this fail! Did it ever occur to you that Naomi helped you to gain access to your father’s study to turn him into the provost guard, thereby ensuring he faces justice for the crimes we both know your father has orchestrated.”

Lady Devein watched Bella’s reaction her bearing did not change in the slightest but she could read the younger woman easily enough after years of teaching her since she was little and was relieved to see a bit of shame in her eyes.
