Chapter 10: Life at Sea

  Bella groaned at the young woman’s focus on wealth. It was a friendly prying. Neverless, Bella preferred Reza’s approach as a healer. She had a way of getting information from you. Knowing she needed to broach a sensitive subject, she asked another girl to take over, with instructions to fetch Bella or Reza if needed.

  After that was done, she and Reza headed to the captain’s quarters to speak in private. Once inside, the wolf-eared Reza flopped onto a bolted down couch of red stain before asking, “How you holding up Bells? I know we just got our freedom, but yours is already at risk and all. Especially with what went down at your father’s trial according to your mother’s letter and the sudden appearance of Lady Naomi herself claiming our vessel as a war temple.”

  Bella sighed. That was rather unexpected. They had been out to sea for about three days when Bella’s mother sent them a letter explaining that a god decreed their intention’s on making her his bride because of some contract her father made with the god of wealth regarding the ship she stolen. To make matters even more complicated at the same moment, Lady Naomi claiming them all as her priestesses and the boat, a temple of war against Fartellen ships. Though that visit brought some much needed peace of mind when the goddess blessed the ship’s figurehead so that they received food and drink from any sacrifice the Lady received.
