From his conversation with Sang Muya, Yun Che learned that the surrounding million-mile area was the outer perimeter of the Demon Cultivation Sea. Countless sects operated here, large and small, and the Douxie Sect was just one among them.
The most powerful cultivator in the sect was its sect master, Liu Sen, Sang Muya’s grandmaster, who had reached the peak of Mid-Core Formation. Even in the outer Demon Cultivation Sea, he was considered somewhat renowned.
The outer region was barren, with scarce spirit veins. Few Nascent Soul cultivators would bother to live here; they mostly stayed in the central region.
Furthermore, there were almost no spirit beast bones in this perimeter. The strong beasts lived in the central area and rarely ventured out. Even if they did, the outer cultivators were powerless to challenge them.
Ultimately, Yun Che learned of three danger zones within the million-mile radius. One of them, the Corpse Valley, was rich with beast bones. Cultivators from nearby sects often came here to gather materials.
Strangely, in the Corpse Valley, new corpses of spirit beasts appeared at intervals, even those far too powerful to reach this area in life. Their deaths here were a mystery.
Fortunately, as long as one avoided entering the valley’s inner regions, one generally remained safe.
Sang Muya’s bone poison had been crafted from the spine of a creature called the Crow Xuan Beast, harvested from this valley. Yun Che studied it and realized that the poison only affected Foundation Establishment cultivators. Its efficacy waned with higher cultivation; by the late Core Formation or Nascent Soul, it was virtually useless.
Yun Che’s current target was thus Corpse Valley. Following Sang Muya’s directions, he sped forward.
Upon arriving, he saw a sprawling seabed mountain range. Peaks of various heights interlinked, creating many low-lying valleys.
This was the Corpse Valley.
The mist here was light, barely affecting vision. Yet as Yun Che proceeded, a subtle yin chill emerged from the valleys, far more potent than outside.
He immediately formed hand seals and chanted quietly. Soon, tiny azure light particles coalesced before him, forming a white orb. The orb’s color shifted and ultimately settled on blue.
This orb was a special divination tool to detect the quality of extremely yin regions. The colors indicated: purple, blue, silver, red, representing the four highest-grade yin regions.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Blue indicated a rare yin location of the earth.
Yun Che’s gaze sharpened. He pointed forward; the orb floated ahead. Slowly following it, he observed its color while scanning for beast bones.
Inside the Corpse Valley, Yun Che detected several cultivators with his divine sense. They were all flying about, hunting for bones. Even when they crossed paths, they exchanged only slight nods before moving on.
He noted that the valley was not singular but a network of interconnected canyons. The deeper one went, the fewer cultivators, but the more abundant the bones.
After the ninth valley, spirit beast corpses began appearing more frequently. Some were massive, filling almost half the valley.
Yun Che paused atop a gigantic skeleton, observing carefully before abandoning it. Despite its size, it emitted no spiritual energy—clearly not from a true spirit beast, only a large corporeal creature.
Deeper within, the orb’s color deepened. Beyond the ninth valley, Yun Che saw no other cultivators, while beast bones increased in number.
At the ninth valley, he paused again, spreading his divine sense. A peculiar feeling arose—he sensed countless unseen eyes watching him the moment he entered.
He smirked coldly. With his Extreme Realm divine sense, he swept the area; the gaze dissipated, restoring the valley’s calm.
Selecting the finest bones, he proceeded to the tenth valley…
By the thirteenth valley, the orb split in two with a pop.
Yun Che’s expression grew serious. This indicated the yin quality had surpassed ordinary top-grade and reached superior-grade. Chilling air seeped from the fourteenth valley, stiffening his body slightly.
From a distance, he surveyed the valley. This place was perfect for secluded cultivation, yet the designation as a “danger zone” warned of hidden risks. Without complete understanding—or under non-emergency conditions—he dared not settle here.
Though reluctant to leave, he had already gathered some bones to strengthen the Nine-Li Corpse Bone Formation.
The fourteenth valley differed markedly. Vast and mysterious, its ground was blanketed in blue frost, devoid of corpses or bones.
As Yun Che prepared to retreat, a roar erupted from afar. A colossal flood dragon, over a thousand zhang long, suddenly burst from the mist.
Yun Che’s expression changed; he stepped back, descending underground, extending his divine sense to track the dragon.
The dragon moved with tremendous force, generating gale-like turbulence. In moments, it crossed thirteen valleys into the fourteenth.
Blood rained from the sky as Yun Che looked up: the dragon’s abdomen had a gaping wound, half its length.
Following its path, a streak of blood marked its relentless flight.
Hovering over the valley, the dragon let out a final roar, sending shockwaves through the surrounding air. Nearby bones crumbled to ash, swept outward by the force.
Yun Che felt the ground rip as if three feet of earth had been shaved away. His heart raced; this dragon’s strength rivaled even Nascent Soul cultivators.
After a moment, the dragon’s eyes dimmed. With its last strength, it fell from the air, breaking through the frost as if sinking into water.
Without hesitation, Yun Che leapt into the valley. Midair, he grabbed the dragon’s tail, dragging the massive body outward.
Bones cracking, the dragon’s corpse was unbearably heavy. Yun Che applied all his spiritual power, barely managing to lift it. His own body groaned under the strain.
As he staggered from the valley, he spotted the other cultivators outside. They instinctively raised defenses and fled behind cover, some still caught by the dragon’s earlier shockwave.
No one had ever lifted a freshly deceased dragon out of the valley, much less intact. The sight drove most of them into greed-driven frenzy.
Coldly, Yun Che let out a snort, landing with the dragon corpse. Using Earth Escape, he sank underground, his Extreme Realm divine sense instantly killing all cultivators below Core Formation.
The dragon’s immense weight slowed him, even with copious source energy elixirs consumed. He had no choice but to drag it painstakingly toward his cave dwelling.
