DMS Chapter 12

  DMS Chapter 12

Another advantage of the system compared to the most famous fantasy role-playing tabletop franchise was that he could swap out the spells on the slots as long as they weren’t on cooldown, so that meant that buying all the spells available to him was going to be a huge help. Flinx didn’t do it since he didn’t know if he had enough mana stones to do so. Not only that, he would probably need the mana stones to purchase things from the Amazon shopping site.

To not spend an immense amount of time focusing on his system, Flinx decided to limit himself to purchasing 3 spells per level for now.

For the 1st-level spells, he purchased Find Familiar, Healing Elixir, and Mage Armor. For the 2nd-level spells, he purchased Invisibility, Mirror Image, and Web. For the 3rd-level spells, Flinx purchased Fireball, Fly, and Galder’s Tower. For the 4th-level spells, he purchased Stone Skin, Summon Elemental, and Fabricate. For the 5th-level spells, he purchased Bigby’s Hand, Scrying, and Telekinesis. For the 6th-level spells, Flinx purchased Chain Lightning, Disintegrate, and Guards and Wards, and for the last level that he earned for being a dungeon miner slave for more than two years, he purchased Crown of Stars, Finger of Death, and Teleport.

Flinx saw a 7th-level spell that almost caused him to break down. It was called Plane Shift, and according to the description, it might allow him to return to Earth. He doubted it at first, but when he searched the spell on the internet, it stated that according to the fantasy role-playing tabletop game rules, the spell would allow a transmigrated being to return to his or her original world. He broke his 3 spells per level rule and purchased the Plane Shift spell. Thankfully, his system didn’t require spell components to be cast.

He immediately cast the Plane Shift spell, but he received an error message that almost made him insane. It stated that his current level didn’t have enough power to sustain a plane shift to a very distant world. It stated that a minimum level of 20 was needed from him to do so.

At least, it was still possible, but Flinx knew that it would take a long time for him to be able to get back to Earth. He reckoned that reaching the Legendary level 20 was not going to be easy.

Since casting the Plane Shift spell was a process that could be cancelled, he tried casting the spell again. This time, he thought of his original sleeping area in the cavern where the wizards placed him, and he received the same message. That it was a very distant world. The difference was, he would need to be level 15 to be able to reach the world of the wizards who enslaved him.

That answered two important questions. He was in another world again, and that Earth was much farther away than the Wizards’ world that enslaved him.

Flinx concluded that his system was truly overpowered and that the wizards who enslaved the Earthlings were right to limit their access to it. He immediately slotted the spells that he thought he would need to survive in the forest, and when he saw the list of spells that he was able to cast, he felt a little secure. He spent 412 low mana stones for all the spells that he purchased.

To be honest, Flinx was a little wary about spending his mana stones since he didn’t know if he could earn them in this new world.

Flinx spent a couple of hours checking out the spells that were available for him to purchase, buying the spells, testing the Plane Shift spell, and arranging the spells in his 35 spell slots that he thought he would need if he encountered a battle in that forest.

Most of the spells that he readied were a mixture of offensive, defensive, and escape spells. After that, he transferred the items from his storage ring to his 4th tab space. He then increased his 4th tab space to 5 cubic meters by paying his system a total of 34 low mana stones.

After that, he checked his Amazon shopping page. He wanted to replace his clothing since he didn’t want to be seen as a slave of the wizards anymore, even though this new place was a different world, according to the message that he received when he cast the Plane Shift spell with the intent of going to the world where the wizard enslavers were located.

According to the system rules, one low mana stone was equivalent to 100 dollars. He now realized why the items on the shopping page were priced in U.S dollars. The system would automatically convert the mana stones into dollars. The rules stated that he could deposit a certain number of mana stones, and the system would convert them immediately to U.S dollars and then use the credit to purchase items. He wouldn’t receive any change, though, and the credit would remain in the system until he used it up, and if he wanted to purchase more things, he just needed to increase the budget on the shopping page.

Flinx immediately deposited 10 low mana stones in the shopping page, and in the upper right corner, he saw that he now had a 1000-dollar budget. He spent 50 dollars on a brown military combat boots, 20 dollars on a pack of three thick black socks appropriate to wear with the boots, 10 dollars on a pack of six black underwear, 40 dollars on military grade brown combat pants, 10 dollars on simple black t-shirts, and finally, he purchased a heavy-grade tactical jacket for 50 dollars.

He chose the colors brown and black, since those were the colors that could be accepted by the locals, whatever era they might be sporting, either medieval, urban, or futuristic. Flinx then wore the clothes that he had purchased and burned all of his dungeon miner clothes using a spell. The remaining budget listed on the shopping site was 820 dollars.

Flinx explored the shopping site for several more minutes and was surprised to learn that he could order food from any restaurant on Earth, so he immediately spent 20 dollars on a Big Mac meal with large fries and soda.

While he was eating his first fast food meal in more than two years, Flinx started crying, which made him feel a little rueful. A meal could now make him cry. He knew that he was now an extremely broken man and didn’t know if there was still a chance that he would be fixed. He checked the forums where the Earthlings usually made their presence known, and there was still no response. Flinx was dreading the fact that he was truly alone. That all of the Earthlings were killed, but he didn’t want to lose hope. He would check the forums every hour to see if anybody would respond.

After he was done eating, Flinx knew that he must learn the condition of the place where he ended up, and the best thing that could help him with that was a familiar.

He cast the Familiar spell and chose to summon the stealthiest flying animal he could think of, since he planned to use it as a scout. A great horned owl was summoned. Flinx named the owl Pip in honor of the flying venomous reptile friend of the protagonist named Flinx in the Alan Dean Foster science-fiction series, where his namesake came from.
