V1: Chapter 18: Onward to more Adventures

“Another batch done!” Wen Chou sets another stack of finished fliers on the table in the center of the library. She turns to Qu Yi. “How many piles did you want done before we get the Yellow Scarves to begin passing them out?”

Qu Yi turns around from the computer desk she’s sitting in front of and says “Um, We need at least enough for Gong Du, Liu Pi, Pei Yuanshao, and Zhou Cang to give to the girls loitering around each entrance, so, make sure we have enough to hand out to a group at a time.”

Gong Du looks at the stacks of paper. “That’s a lot for just the four of us to carry.”

Yan Liang raises her hand. “I can help, too! While I have this disguise on, I may as well.”

Qu Yi nods, checking the table with all the fliers. “Looks like we have enough to begin handing them out. “They’re still printing out, Zhou Cang?” She looks over to the three printers by the front counter where Zhou Cang is gathering more.

  “They sure are, Shrimpy!”

Qu Yi looks to Liu Pi. “F-From what Gong Du said, you are good at getting the Yellow Scarves to listen to you?”

Liu Pi nods. “They are very easily influenced. I can just tell them Zhang Jue’s sister gave me the order.”

“If word gets back about what we’re doing to help Zhang Jue, is she the type to accept the better idea?”

A quick shake of the head is Liu Pi’s response, “She is a stubborn girl. Getting her to accept different ideas is a challenge. It’s best if we try to limit the influence of this plan and avoid it spreading in her direction.”

Qu Yi nods slowly. “Do you know where she is right now?”

“She’s at the pavilion that is the Yellow Scarves current classroom. She’s been sitting there since her sister went missing.”

Qu Yi scratches her head in confusion. “Wait, no offense to her, but shouldn’t she be in the front trying to get things sorted quicker? It’s her sister who is missing after all.”

Her response is met with Liu Pi shrugging. “I don’t bother asking that sort of stuff. Not my problem. I didn’t even want this stupid forced walkout thing to happen.”

“Yeah,” Gong Du nods. “While the scarves are very fashionable and I wonder where Zhang Jue went, what they’re doing isn’t helpful.”

Zhou Cang sets another bundle of fliers down. “So, I guess we’re all ready to go? Let’s get the girls in front of the locker room first. It will be the least noticeable.”

Yan Liang grabs a stack of fliers. “All right, I’m ready when you girls are.” The rest of those in yellow scarves grab the fliers with her.

Qu Yi smiles to Yan Liang, then turned to Liu Pi. “Wen Chou and I will be keeping things printing here. Once you’re done with that group, come back and we should have more ready.

“Right,” Liu Pi responds shortly. “Let’s go,” she says to her group as they follow her lead. The group heads back through the locker rooms to the girls guarding it. As the girls exit, they are met with cheering.

“Oi! Oi! It’s Yan Zheng!” Han Zhong cheers, still guarding the doors where they had left her.

  “Yeah!” Guan Hai adds.

The girls clap around Yan Liang staring at her.

Yan Liang blinks for a moment before she cocks her head in confusion, “W-Wha?”

Gong Du whispers quickly, “You’re Yan Zheng the Yellow Scarf, remember?”

“O-Oh! Right!” Yan Liang jumps in realization. “Yeah! It’s me Yan Zheng, um. Yo?”

“Oi yes, yes!” Han Zhong nods, her dark green, short hair bouncing slightly with her movement. “Oi, I don’t think we’ve seen you at the Yellow Scarf classroom? We should show you as a new member!”

“Yeah!” Guan Hai chimes in again.

  “O-Oh I’m not sure if that’s necessar-”

“She’d love to go.” Liu Pi steps up.

Yan Liang looks to her shocked with fear. “I-I would?”

  “Yeah!” Guan Hai cheers.

Liu Pi leans in close to Yan Liang, “This way we have someone watching Zhang Bao to prevent news of Qu Yi’s plan getting to her.”

“B-But you’ve seen how bad I am with acting!” Yan Liang mutters, pure terror in her voice.

“Do it for Qu Yi, right?” Liu Pi nods, Yan Liang swears she sees a small smile on her lips.

“R-Right.” she whispers before turning back and handing Liu Pi her share of fliers. “A-Actually I would love to, m-meet this Zhang Bao person!”

Han Zhong smiles. As she places her hand on Yan Liang’s back, she leads her away. “Oi, you’ll love ‘er she’s a bottle of spunk!”

“Yeah!” Guan Hai follows along with the two.

Liu Pi lets out a sigh of relief. “All right, we have orders from Zhang Bao, take these fliers and hand them to anyone not wearing a Yellow Scarf.” The three girls pass the stacks of paper out among the other seven yellow scarves at the door, “DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM,” she stresses the sentence.

Zhou Cang hands hers out. “We want to figure out if anyone’s seen Zhang Jue. If you find out anything, tell them to come to the library in the school.”

Each girl receives a small stack of fliers. They look among each other before turning back to Liu Pi’s serious expression and nods. Each girl splits up, heading toward the direction of any few students who are outside, still trying to enjoy their sports activities.

Pei Yuanshao looks off in the direction that Han Zhong, Yan Liang and Guan Hai went. “Why can’t I be that popular?”

Zhou Cang gives her a look of frustration. “Because you keep stealing from everyone!”

“Oh yeah.” She smiles. “I suppose it’s worth it.”

“Let’s get inside and take care of the other doors!” Gong Du cheers, interrupting the two, as the four return inside the school.

Yan Liang is taken past the part of the schoolyard she is used to. She had never gotten close to the west dormitory, much less behind it. She notices some picnic tables with connected benches where Yellow Scarves are cutting cloth, apparently making new uniforms.

“Oi, Yan Zheng, we are ‘ere! Look at this beaut!” Han Zhong signals to the pavilion with makeshift yellow paint sloppily painted on the roof. There are plenty of dried streams where wet paint had been left alone with gravity. It seems they have made some benches in two rows under the roof with a path in the middle to allow people to walk through. One big chair and two smaller chairs in the middle end of the pavilion next to a bathroom.

“Whoa,” Yan Liang looks around in awe. “Did you girls do all this yourself? Um, yo.”

“Yeah.” Guan Hai answers proudly, nodding.

Han Zhong leads Yan Liang down the middle aisle as she looks at the details of the benches themselves; they have been sanded smooth and look very worn from lots of use.

In the center chair sits a girl with two high and very large black pigtails. She has bright yellow eyes. She is wearing a large yellow winter scarf around her neck, a brown camisole underneath, yellow cut jeans with brown straps wrapped around the bottom of each leg to keep it formfitting. The girl raises her eyebrow. “Han Zhong? Who is this?”

“Oi Madame Vice President! This is Yan Zheng! She is a riot! Big fan of yellow!”

Yan Liang scratches her cheek, not entirely sure where she got that one from. She thought she was just answering a question they had asked. “U-Um, Hi- I mean, yo. I am Yan Zheng.”

The girl nods, examining Yan Liang. “So you are a newcomer to the way of peace? No doubt inspired by all the righteous justice we’ve been doing on the hunt for my missing sister, Zhang Jue! I am second in command, Zhang Bao, and I will take the reins until we get my older sister unsuspended!”

A girl peeks out from behind the pavilion. She has long black hair down to her waist with an oversized yellow bow tied to the bottom, sharing yellow eyes herself, although her face has a much more solemn expression. She wears a thick yellow scarf with a baggy brown shirt and a thin yellow skirt. “But,” she quietly speaks up, “we don’t know if Jue really is suspended.”

Zhang Bao scoffs. “This is my youngest sister Zhang Liang,” She turns to her. “There’s no way Jue could go missing without warning us! It only means she was kicked out for being too poetic and peaceful.” She nods, looking back to Yan Liang. “As such we must settle this peacefully with violence.”

Yan Liang looks at Zhang Bao, unamused, not sure if she realizes those are exclusive terms from each other. “O-Oh, well hi. I-I guess yeah, I’m, Yan Zheng, y-yo. Interested in peace and… yellow?”

Han Zhong laughs. “Oi you see! Big yellow lover!” She pushes Yan Liang down on one of the benches. “Now, we must know. Why do you like yellow?”

“Yeah.” Guan Hai sits behind Yan Liang, waiting for comments.

Yan Liang looks around and sees Zhang Bao listening in too. Is this really a thing they were interested in hearing about? Well, Yan Liang does like yellow, although more on her own uniform. “U-Uh, well, yellow has always been a very cheerful color?”

Zhang Bao nods as she sits forward, palms together as her index fingers touch her lips. “I see.” She says, appearing to be thinking about every word Yan Liang says.

Yan Liang’s eyes widen, thinking to herself “This really is happening?!” Even she is in disbelief. Yan Liang’s brain begins to worry. How is she supposed to talk about a color long enough to distract these girls? She clears her throat to speak up, “W-Well, it reminds me of the sun.”

Zhang Bao nods. “Yes like the slogan I was thinking about!” She clears her throat. “The azure sky is already dead! The yellow sky will soon rise!”

The three girls who are listening in stare at Zhang Bao in confusion. “Yeah?” Guan Hai turns her head, avoiding eye contact with Zhang Bao.

“Oi, you lost me on that one.” Han Zhong scratches her head.

Yan Liang put her index finger on her chin as she tries to understand it. “But, um, the sun is yellow when the sky is blue, so, can’t the azure sky be alive when the sun rises? Or, perhaps when the sunrises it does make an orange sky, but it does return to a type of azure. So, is it metaphorical sense that we are in an endless cycle?”

Zhang Bao stares at Yan Liang blankly, before letting out a sigh, “Look, I just thought it sounded cool.”

As Yan Liang continues to distract Zhang Bao with small talk, time passes. With each trip from the library to an entrance, the volume of the chaos on school grounds die down, causing students to leave their dorm rooms, curious if the upset is finally over.

The sun continues to move from directly above the students to the west. After a while, the group finishes handing out the fliers to each entrance.

The girls in the library pant while resting at the table in the center.

“I didn’t think it would take so long,” Wen Chou gasps.

“Yeah, and still no sign or clue of Zhang Jue.” Zhou Cang rests her head on the table.

“Excuse me?” A knock on the library door causes the girls on the table to sit up suddenly, looking in the direction of the sound. Standing there is a girl with a black ponytail. She has orange ribbons strapped around her curtain bangs that cover her ears, and wears an orange blazer that is buttoned up with yellow trim, and a white shirt underneath. She is also wearing an orange skirt with a yellow stripe around the hem, white tights and running shoes. Qu Yi recognizes the uniform. It is the one Yan Gang always wears.

“O-Oh? Hi!” Qu Yi shoots up from her seat, with Wen Chou following after. “S-So are you here about the flier? Y-You’re from Gong… Gongsun Zan’s class, right?”

The girl smiles, her yellow eyes shining brightly. “Well, technically. Because I am Gongsun Zan.” She notices Qu Yi’s appearance. “Oh! You’re that girl Gang is obsessed with!” She puts the bottom of her fist on the palm of her hand figuring it out. “You look just like Gang said you did! Qu Yi, right?”

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Qu Yi blinks. “H-Huh? Yan Gang mentioned me?”

Gongsun Zan nods. “I think she’s a fan of your class. She knows everyone from Yuan Shao’s class! She must be your biggest fan.”

Wen Chou smiles, knowing better, but keeps her thoughts unheard. “It’s because she hated us for some reason.”

Qu Yi smiles but shakes her head. “S-Sorry, but we’re a bit desperate for information right now. Have you seen Zhang Jue?”

Gongsun Zan smiles. “Yeah! I saw her this morning when I went out for my early run.” She stretches her arms. “Nothing beats the feeling of waking up at five in the morning to do a jog, right?”

Qu Yi smiles politely. “I-I can’t exactly say the same, but you saw her! D-Did you know where she was going?”

Gongsun Zan continues stretching her legs. Just thinking about running is getting her excited for one. “Yeah! She was headed towards the school! Struggling with this large book and a lot of papers. I asked if I could help and she said she didn’t want to burden me, but I decided it would be my good deed for the day, so, I helped her.”

Zhou Cang, Pei Yuanshao and Gong Du jump from their seats, “S-She was heading towards the school that early?” Zhou Cang asks in disbelief, “She wasn’t being taken hostage or anything by any of the staff?”

Gongsun Zan gives an awkward smile at that question. “Nope? We got to the front office, and it seemed like Mrs. Zhu was waiting for her there. She helped with her papers and books, and I then continued my run.” She smiles.

“Wait, so she wasn’t kidnapped?” Gong Du gasps.

  “Or expelled?!” Pei Yuanshao shouts.

Gongsun Zan smiles. “Not that I know of, but when the rest of my class came out for morning workouts, the track was blocked for a ‘protest.’” She frowns, “So we couldn’t do our morning on campus and went outside of school bounds to do it..”

“O-Oh.” Both Pei Yuanshao and Zhou Cang avert their eyes in shame.

Gongsun Zan folds her arms. “And then when we got back, people were blocking the entrances to the school, so we couldn’t have our class either. So, we just held it in my dorm room.”

The two yellow scarves grumble to themselves. Perhaps had they not acted so hastily, they may have learned this information much earlier.

“Anyway! That’s all I know!” Gongsun Zan smiles. “Did I help?”

Qu Yi nods happily, “Yeah! Thanks a lot!” Qu Yi can see the end in sight. They are already in the school, so she just has to find out where they would be.

“That’s so good to hear!” Gongsun Zan claps happily. “Anyway, from the looks of it, the track is freed up now, so I have to catch up with my class.” She stands up straight, determined. “I must be an example as a good president! Can’t let them start without me!” She starts jogging down the hall towards the locker rooms.

“Well, it’s good to know Zhang Jue isn’t kidnapped or suspended.” Zhou Cang nods, “But that still doesn’t answer the question about where she is?”

THE MEETING IS ALMOST OVER. I open the door to the conference room and shut it quietly. I have to refill my special water bottle. I just managed to get my first break from that seemingly endless meeting. We’ve never had a meeting catered before, but it seems that girl went through a lot of trouble for today. I walk out into the hall and notice something off.

There are no girls inside the hall. I check my watch, 4:00? Some class activities should certainly still be going on, and even if they aren’t, a lot of students normally hang out around the halls afterwards. “Anyone here?” I call out, only to hear an echo. In the span of me leaving the conference room to the hall; did everyone get raptured? I head to the center of the school, where I am able to see quite a few different halls, I notice the lights on in the library. Oh good, maybe I’m not in purgatory. Well, I am, but, look, you know what I mean. I head there and see five girls standing at the front of the library with one in a yellow hoodie sitting on a table in the center. “Huh?” I notice Qu Yi, Wen Chou, and four of those girls in yellow scarves. “Hey Kid, know where everyone is?”

Qu Yi perks up. “Lei Bo!”

  “Mr. Lei!”

  “Mr Lei??”

  “Mr Lei.”

I hold my hands out, not used to being bombarded with my name. “Okay, one at a time.” I point to Qu Yi, “Kid. What’s going on?”

Qu Yi takes a deep breath in, before she speaks in a very fast pace. “Well, Zhang Jue went missing, and it caused all the Yellow Scarves to start acting crazy and threatening everyone, so we decided to try to look for her, we got Zhou Cang to help, but all the doors were guarded, so Liu Bei’s class bust a way in, but when we got inside we needed our class ID to go to the library, so we met Pei Yuanshao, and then we began making fliers to help the Yellow Scarves find Zhang Jue without threatening everyone, but Gongsun Zan said Zhang Jue went and the staff with a lot of stuff in her arms, and now we have to find out where she’s missing still, so that’s where we are now.” She begins panting for air after the explanation, Wen Chou patting her back.

I stare at Qu Yi unphased. “Well, sounds like you had an eventful day, but to turn it uneventful, Zhang Jue isn’t missing.”

Complete silence from the six girls.

“WHAT?!” They all cry in unison.

“She’s been in a meeting with the staff since this morning.” I look between all of them, who have completely different expressions of pure shock. “Something about turning that pavilion behind the west dorm into one of those portable classroom buildings, becoming officially recognized as a class at the school. She had all this paperwork and legal work and even okayed it by the city council. Said she was given some book by an old woman that helped her a lot, something called “The Essential Art of Land Permit Peace.” I shrug. “Being honest I was only half paying attention. Ten-hour meetings aren’t my cup of special water.”

The group then look between one another disbelief, prevalent on their faces.

“Do you want me to go get her?” I ask.

“Please.” Wen Chou falls to her knees, seeming to be disappointed that all their effort were for naught.

After a few moments, I return to the library with Zhang Jue. She has her black hair tied in two long braids down her back. Her detached yellow sleeves are tied to the top of her yellow dress with ribbons lacing through. Connected by the ribbons, she has a yellow skirt and looks deeply apologetic.

“I’m so sorry my class caused you so much trouble!” She keeps bowing up and down apologetically to Qu Yi and Wen Chou. I don’t know how they could think I went missing! I left them a note and everything!”

Liu Pi raises her hand. “Hey, Zhang Jue. Where did you leave this note?”

“On the chair in our pavilion classroom. I put it right on the cushion.”

Liu Pi closes her eyes as she pinches the bridge of her nose. She could see it in her mind, Zhang Bao sitting there all day, the note perfectly covered up by her butt in the seat.

I look to Qu Yi. “Kid, level with me. Are the school grounds a mess?”

Qu Yi looks at me sympathetically, before slowly nodding.

I close my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose, matching Liu Pi. “All right, good news, Zhang Jue. Your class will be getting that portable installed soon. Bad news, you need to band your class together to help pick up the mess that they left behind, and some of your class may be getting detention if video footage permits.”

Zhang Jue smiles calmly and nods. “Thank you, Mr. Lei. I promise we will clean up everything, and they will serve their time peacefully! Thank you for being so supportive in the meeting.”

I wave her off. “Don’t mention it, though you might want to hurry and get started with the cleaning before it gets dark. There will also be some service involved for your class to help make up for this school day. It won’t impact your portable classroom being installed. Hope you understand.”

Zhang Jue bows and nods. “It is fine! Thank you for your consideration, Mr. Lei!” She hurries off, still walking as if standing on her toes, but with more haste in her step.

I look around the library and notice small traces of a mess left behind, apparently from them making those fliers Qu Yi mentioned. “Tell you what, we each had a long day. I’ll take care of this. You six won’t get any of punish- wait, six?” I count them all up. “Where’s the Goodie Two Shoes?”

Gong Du perks up. “Oh she’s off distracting Zhang Bao so she wouldn’t hear word about our flier plan.”

I rub my temples. “I’m going to pretend I understand what you mean. Regardless, you four Yellow Scarves will be exempt from cleaning the school grounds with the others. Anyway, you two should probably grab your friend.” I point to Qu Yi and Wen Chou. “Just leave this room to me.” I will delay looking outside at the mess for as long as I can.

As the girls leave the library, they all feel as if they deserve a long relaxing rest. “Days aren’t normally like this, right Wen Chou?” Qu Yi asks her friend, looking in her direction.

Her roommate laughs. “That’s a good one. No, it’s really regular most of the time! Class, practice, relax, repeat!”

“Qu Yi,” a voice behind her says, causing the two to turn around. Liu Pi is looking at her. “Do you mind if I talk to you alone for a minute?”

  “U-Um, okay?”

Wen Chou raises an eyebrow, “You sure you want to Newbie?”

Qu Yi smiles and nods. “She’s done a lot for us today. It’s the least I can do.”

Wen Chou grins. “Whatever you say. I’ll wait for you just up ahead.” She continues walking down the hall, spreading distance between herself and Liu Pi.

Liu Pi looks Qu Yi up and down. “I just want to let you know, you have a friend that really cares for you and you’re lucky to have a friend like that.”

Qu Yi blinks, then smiles. “Y-Yeah, I’m still not used to it myself.”

Liu Pi laughs. It was the first time Qu Yi had seen her smile or even laugh. “Well, make sure you keep them close.”

  “I-I will.” Qu Yi nods.

Liu Pi turns around. “Well, I’ll see you around, Qu Yi.”

“O-Oh um, see you around also,” Qu Yi responds back awkwardly. She scratches her head slightly confused, but decides to hurry up and catch up to Wen Chou.

Gong Du runs up to Liu Pi. “Well, you seem awfully chirpy.” She has her hands behind her back, leaning forward in interest. “What was that about?”

“Just wanted to make sure someone appreciates a good friend.”

Gong Du grabs Liu Pi’s left hand with her right. “So what are we going to do next? With Yellow Scarves becoming an official class, do you want to join them?”

“Nah.” Liu Pi shakes her head. “I like it just being the two of us still.”

“I can still wear the scarf though, right?”

“Of course.” Liu Pi laughs as the two head toward the front exit.

Back at the Pavilion, Yan Liang has gathered a crowd. “So that’s why I think bananas are cute,” Yan Liang smiles answering a question.

“You are a poet, Yan Zheng.” Zhang Bao looks at Yan Liang with eyes wide with admiration.

“I can listen to you talk about yellow things all day,” another Yellow Scarf responds.

  “Yeah…” Guan Hai says dreamily.

Zhang Jue returns around the corner with Wen Chou and Qu Yi who had just caught up with them.

Yan Liang lets out a long sigh, guilt eating her up inside. “L-Look, while you have listened so well, I-I think I need to tell you the truth. I-I can’t keep living a lie!” She stands up and removes her scarf, “I-I know you all think I’m this Yan Zheng person, but… that person doesn’t exist.”

The crowd gasps, as murmuring spreads amongst them. Yan Liang continues. “I am Yan Liang of Yuan Shao’s class. I-I’m so sorry for tricking all of you!” She is bowing apologetically in every direction. Voices begin shouting out.

“Wait, she’s one of those Yuan Shao snobs!”

  “How dare you!”

  “We thought you were cool!”

The words begin to pile on until someone behind them interrupts.

“Wait!” The crowd turns to see Zhang Jue standing out, her hand outstretched.

  “Zhang Jue?!”

  “Zhang Jue?!”

  “It’s Zhang Jue!”

  “Yeah!”

Zhang Bao stands up from the chair. “Sister?! Where’d you go?! We thought you got suspended!”

Zhang Jue ignores the comments. “You’ve listened to this nice girl talk to you for how long?”

Han Zhong looks at a clock hanging from the pavilion roof. “About 3 ‘ours.”

Zhang Jue nods. “You already listened to her for so long, you enjoyed her company for so long. What makes her so different than you or I?”

The crowd looks amongst each other whispering.

Han Zhong nods. “Oi! Grand President Zhang Jue speaks the truth! Yan Zheng is a girl that really knows ‘er yellow!”

Yan Liang lets out a deep sigh. “I-It’s Yan Liang… I just made up the name Yan Zheng.”

“Oi? Well you’ll always be Yan Zheng to us!”

“Yeah!” Guan Hai chimes in clapping, causing a slow applause to spread around Yan Liang.

Yan Liang blushes and scratches her cheek at all the praise. “W-Wait, Zhang Jue?” She moves her way through the crowd. “S-So where did you go missing to? Your class was causing havoc all over the school grounds.” She approaches her, taking the chance to get out of the center of the crowd.

Zhang Jue looks around confused, “I went to a meeting. I left a note! It should have been on my chair. She points to the chair Zhang Bao is standing in front of, a piece of very wrinkled scrap paper is left in the middle of the cushion.

The crowd looks over to Zhang Bao and begins shaking their heads disapprovingly.

Zhang Bao looks between all the angry faces. “A-Ah! I-It m-must’ve been a common mistake! I don’t look down where I’m about to sit right? Who does that?!”

Zhang Jue lets out a sigh. “While you did all cause chaos, and I do not approve of that, we will need to clean up the mess you made around the school.” Sighs of frustration are heard from the crowd. “However,” Zhang Jue continues, “we will also be officially recognized as a class and a portable building will be placed at this very spot for our classroom soon.”

Gasps erupt from the crowd, and it soon spreads to cheers.

The three roommates look between themselves as they each let out an exhausted sigh from the tiring day. They turn around and head the way they came happy that everything seems to have turned out for the better.

“So, what did you end up talking to them about for that long?” Wen Chou peeks past Qu Yi to look at Yan Liang.

Yan Liang laughs. “They mostly were obsessed with asking opinions on yellow things, and what ones are cute.” She held her fingers, “We talked about baby chickens, rubber ducks, lemons, bees, rainboots and raincoats, sunflowers-

Wen Chou laughs back. “I get the idea. I didn’t know you liked yellow things so much.”

Yan Liang blushes. “Well, I mean, our uniform is cute and it’s a really nice yellow. And Yuan Shao’s hair is cute, and it’s also yellow.” She gasps. “My uniform is still in the archery range! We have to go back and get it!”

Qu Yi nods. “I think I’d just like to rest there for a while. I feel completely drained.” Her stomach growls, “I suppose I also missed lunch.”

The roommates smile amongst each other. “Well, I hope we won’t have another day as messy as this for a while.” Wen Chou smiles, putting her hands behind her head and resting on them.

After getting Yan Liang’s things from the archery range, and a quick stop at dinner the three enter their dorm room.

“Ahhh!” Wen Chou falls in on the carpet as soon as she enters. “Sweet release. No Yellow Scarves running around. No having to refill ink and papers in printers. Just a nice time to relax before bed.”

Qu Yi smiles as she passes Wen Chou sprawled on the carpet. “I-I think I may need to take a nap, just to make it to bedtime…” She yawns before she falls flat on her bed.

Yan Liang perks up, “H-Hey, Qu Yi! Shouldn’t you take a bath? Let’s change you into your pajamas, all right?”

Nothing. Qu Yi’s down for the count.

Yan Liang chuckles, “That girl has the weirdest sleeping habits.”

Wen Chou sits up using her elbows. “I can’t blame her. She really took charge today. She looks like she’s really serious about wanting to be everyone’s friend here.

Yan Liang thinks to some problem students, “I-I don’t know if she can do it myself… B-But if anyone can do it, Qu Yi can!” Her fists close in determination. “Anyway, I should probably take a long relaxing bath. Today was tiring.”

Wen Chou laughs. “Well, while you do that, I’m going to take one out of Qu Yi’s book and hit the hay!” She begins taking off her uniform.

Yan Liang jumps. “Gah! Wen Chou! Wait until I get in the bathroom first!” She runs to her wardrobe grabbing a nightgown before speeding into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

Wen Chou laughs as she stops undressing. “That gets her every time.” She approaches Qu Yi’s bed and looks at her small roommate sprawled out. “Yep, she’s already snoring softly.” Wen Chou chuckles to herself as she sits on the edge of the bed.

“Qu Yi, I’m so glad you came to this school.” She begins to undo Qu Yi’s twintails, “I was afraid you were going to be another girly girl.” She laughs. “Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but if you and Yan Liang only talked about girl stuff all the time, it would be lonely…” Her smile softens slightly. “Yan Liang is like a sister to me, not the ones who are ‘bffs’ or anything. But she was always fun to get in little adventures with and she was always by my side.”

She sets the hair ties on Qu Yi’s nightstand. She then checks Qu Yi’s pocket, pulling out her phone, book and keys and putting them on the nightstand for when she wakes up. “When you first came here, I know I put on a tough face, but I was actually very scared you were going to take her away from me.” Wen Chou begins to tear up, turning away and wiping her eyes. “I-I’m not crying. Okay, maybe I am, but I’m glad you’re asleep for it.” She plugs in Qu Yi’s phone for her as she begins pulling Qu Yi’s sheets up so she can help her under the covers. “But, being with the two of you. I see how it should have been from the start. You deserved to come here instead of your old school.” She smiles, gathering her thoughts. “I guess, thank you. For coming into my life.” She grins as she stands up, heading to her wardrobe.

Wen Chou always loves talking to people when they are asleep. She remembers doing it with Yan Liang before Qu Yi came. “It’s like the little sister I always wanted but never had. Well, I actually wanted a little brother, but I’ll take what I can get.” She laughs to herself as she finishes changing. Now wearing a tank top and some shorts she stretches. “I look forward to everyday with you, Qu Yi. I hope we have many more adventures like this ahead of us.” She smiles as she turns off the light switch in the room before finding her way back to her bed.

Quietly a mumble come from Qu Yi’s lips. “Me too.”
