Chapter 20:”Stardust Festival Day 2 to 3: The Aftermath of the Preliminaries, and Then…”

To state the conclusion first, the preliminaries were an easy win. I participated in the fourth match.

"Yes! Now, we will begin the fourth match of the Individual Match Preliminaries!"

The MC had returned from Wandering Thomas to Bella Moll-sensei, who was supposed to serve originally.

When the match started, the other four adopted a strategy to target me intensively, who had a decent reputation beforehand, and take me down.

From the left, Wind Magic 《Rafal》. From the right, Fire Magic 《Volkna》. From the center, Lightning Magic 《Delsra》.

All of them released intermediate attack magic. The remaining one looked as if he was doing nothing at a glance, but it was hard to think that was actually the case.

Feeling danger, I retreated from the spot, and Earth Magic 《Kelder》 appeared where I had been standing. It is used to bind the feet. If I had been caught by this, I might have taken the concentrated magic attack. It was a slightly dangerous scene.

Having dealt with 《Kelder》, three remain. In the pressing situation, I have no room to use magic multiple times. I have to break through in one move, but what to do.

I released the original Wind Magic 《Rafalus》 with my left hand to crash into the opponent's 《Rafal》, and simultaneously deployed Water Wall Magic 《Tilmol》 with my right hand. I'll deal with fire and lightning with the wall of water.

Only wind cuts through water, so I decided to cancel it out by crashing the same wind against it. This judgment paid off, and I was able to block all attacks with no damage.

They were shaken because their strategy failed. I judged that if I were to counterattack, now would be the chance.

Today is just this one match. Unless I push myself too hard, my Magic Power will fully recover by tomorrow. Then, there is no need to spare Magic Power.

Besides, from the insignificant attacks earlier and their current agitation, the bottom of the four's ability was also exposed. It shouldn't be a problem even if I brute force it. I, who was depressed to death after hearing Thomas's story, decided to pull off something flashy for distraction.

  Burn it all.

  《Prominence》

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Four powerful and incomparable gaseous flames, with power exceeding even the advanced magic 《Volark》, flew towards the four respectively, undulating.

They were desperately releasing Water Magic to cancel it out, but it was useless. With only intermediate Water Magic 《Tilma》, such strong flames cannot be canceled out.

《Prominence》 is a magic I newly devised as a variant of 《Volark》. I named it as is because it looks very similar to the prominences emitted by the sun. Although the power is tremendous, it has much worse Magic Power efficiency than 《Volark》, and it was actually a failed work with poor usability.

Still, using it daringly is, as I said earlier, nothing more than brute force relying only on high Magic Power. Probably it wouldn't work easily against strong opponents, and would only end up wasting Magic Power.

But well, at this time, it hit everyone firmly, and they rolled around on the sand clumsily. If left alone, it might really burn the opponents to ashes, so I decided to cancel it in a few seconds before it became dangerous. That was enough. All four could no longer stand up.

  "Winner, Yu Hoshimi!"

The end of the match is declared by Bella Moll-sensei. It was a truly abrupt settlement.

  "Ex-plo-sion! Ex-plo-sion! Ex-plo-sion! Ex-plo-sion!"

An "Explosion" call wells up from nowhere. Crap! I shouldn't have settled it with one shot of such flashy Fire Magic.

I realized for the first time then that it would only enhance my nickname as the Explosion Girl. I regretted that I made a mistake in choosing magic, but it was too late. Actually, I like Wind Magic better...

While receiving the unceasing "Explosion" call on my back (of course, Alice was also doing it happily together), I left the arena holding a feeling of embarrassment and annoyance.

At night, I heard from Milia about the murder incident that happened in the morning.

Then, in relation to that, I was also able to hear about the Masked Group I was slightly curious about. Apparently, they are dangerous guys who worship Lost Magic.

So, Milia said this. She has business she absolutely must investigate tomorrow, so she wants to move alone for a while. She said if I remain until the finals, she might make it in time. In the end, only Alice came to watch from the first round.

  The next day.

Facing the main tournament, I luckily got a match-up where I wouldn't face Argus until the finals. I managed to win through the first round and semi-finals, and faced the final match with Argus, who won through as a matter of course. Until then, there were no major injuries, and I managed to suppress Magic Power consumption well, so I think I can face the fight with him in good condition.

When I entered, the venue was heated up more than ever. I wave my hand to respond to that heat.

Looking forward, Argus was also responding to cheers in a practiced manner. It's surely not just my imagination that I feel some yellow cheers (squeals) from female fans are mixed in.

Midway, I looked towards Alice cheering in the spectator seats. Alice was cheering for me desperately using her whole body with gestures. Seeing that, my heart bounced even more. Well, it was unfortunate that Milia was nowhere to be found, but it can't be helped. She must still be busy.

Finally, Argus and I came to face each other on the honorable stage of the finals in the arena. The time has come to fulfill the promise we swore back then, to fight with full power under careful preparation.

Most people here must have been looking forward to the match starting soon.

And everyone had no way of knowing the tragedy that would happen soon.
