The Luminaries, the self-proclaimed guardians of order, declare it an undeniable truth: "The Demonlord Thyranthe struck down the Swordking, the last protector of balance in our world. His death shattered the cycle of Malicebloom, unleashing an annual disaster upon humanity. The Swordking, a warrior beyond compare and bound to divine order, was a beacon of peace. His fall marked the genesis of chaos."
In the wake of this catastrophe, warrior factions crumbled, leaderless and broken, unable to withstand the horrors of Malicebloom alone. But from the ashes of their failure, the Luminaries rose. Where warriors faltered, they took their place, unifying the fragmented continent—East, West, South—under their singular banner. Now, they are humanity's sole defense, holding back the annual bloom with unwavering strength.
Yet, their mission remains incomplete. The Demonlord Thyranthe lives. He neither fled nor hid. Instead, he forged his own dominion in the farthest East, a kingdom untouched by light—the Dark Domain. From its abyssal depths, he has amassed chaos-born creatures, forgotten horrors, and forces once relegated to myth. Even the Luminaries, with all their power and unity, refuse to challenge him recklessly. For Thyranthe isn't just a threat; he is the strongest being on the continent.
And so, the world waits.
A prophecy speaks of a hero, born with the power to slay the Demonlord and end the darkness forever. But is prophecy enough? History is often written by victors, and truth shaped by rulers. Legends can deceive. Even heroes, it is said, may fall.
Stolen story; please report.
Elarith exists in a fragile balance, a continent cleaved into three distinct realms, each defined by power, faith, or the looming specter of destruction.
Once, Divinants roamed freely, their divine essence binding them to their gods, shaping the world with their blessings. Now, their numbers have dwindled, their presence scattered, mere relics of a fading era. Yet, some still hold influence:
-
The Eclipseborne, wielders of shadow divinity, drawing power from the Shadowgod's domain.
-
The Nomad Healers, blessed by the God of Life, wandering with wisdom and mercy.
-
The Warrior Divinants, chosen by the Warrior God, unmatched in battle.
-
The Elementalists, rarest of all, secluded in the North, their abilities tied to forces beyond mortal comprehension.
-
And the most sacred, the Athenari, of whom only three remain, blessed by the Divinity of Light. Uniquely, the Athenari alone can share their divinity, binding followers to their power through the guidance of the Luminaries.
With time, the continent reshaped itself into three great territories:
-
The North: An untamed, mysterious land of Elementalists. The Luminaries dare not intrude, bound by ancient laws that demand respect for its higher purpose.
-
The Luminary Dominion: Encompassing 80% of the continent, united under Luminary rule. They maintain control over cities, law, and divinity, standing as humanity's protectors after the Swordking's demise.
-
The Dark Domain: A cursed realm ruled by the Demonlord Thyranthe. It's a bastion of abyssal creatures, chaos-born abominations, and horrors unseen, the last remaining stronghold of madness in a world otherwise purged of Chaos Beings.
No faction, not even the Luminaries, truly dares to challenge Thyranthe directly. While the monsters of Malicebloom continue to plague the world—albeit in weaker forms, allowing warriors to fight without constant reliance on Divinants—the threat of Thyranthe and his dark kingdom grows ever stronger.
Legends persist of a destined hero, one who will rise to slay the Demonlord and end the darkness forever. Whether this prophecy is true, or merely another tale crafted by rulers, remains unknown.
For now, the world waits.
