Just a courier

Though recalling what happened on his birthday night was really tough and mentally painful, Lun had to go through his memory again, trying to describe every detail he remembered about that night.

When it finally came to the end of the story, Lun took a deep breath and felt much better after all.

  Seeing this, the woman comforted:

"Don't worry. You're safe now. Just as I said, when we found you, you were just lying on the ground without consciousness and there was nothing seriously wrong with your body.

However, based on your current description of those dark figures, so far we cannot identify their exact origin.

As for the bangle on your wrist, we have no idea where it came from either. To be honest, don't mock me, okay? We don't even know why Masami took this thing to the universe [605].

By the way, [605] is the code number for the world where you live in as its identity in the entire multiverse.

So basically you are the only one who knows what happened that night and whatever you have seen is very important to us."

Lun nodded. Then his eyes shifted once again to the window and gazed quietly at the unbelievable space view outside.

But the colleague she was talking about, this Masami, had a strong Japanese accent when she spoke and didn't look like an alien at all.

The woman saw that Lun was silent again, but she didn't pay much attention.

She knew that he was just an ordinary person from the universe [605] and he needed some time to digest this information.

So the woman remained silent too, looking at the files on her lap.

A moment later, Lun suddenly broke the silence and said:

"By the way, if you can access all the cameras on the streets, don't you find...any trace of your colleague?"

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

The woman was slightly taken back and soon enough realized what he meant. So she said:

"Well, I totally understand why you have questions like that. But Masami...she has some special tricks and abilities that can help her make a perfect disguise without leaving a trace to whoever wants to find her.

Otherwise, we wouldn't have had to work so hard on this case and still have no clue at all by now."

In the end, she herself smiled, a smile that was kind of helpless and even speechless. Because this time, Masami was seriously in trouble, and she even made a lot trouble for her colleagues and friends back in the Administration.

The woman dared not think any further.

Lun didn't say anything after hearing her explanation. Whether it was true or not, it wasn't something that an underdog like him should be concerned about.

He just wanted to figure out his own situation.

Upon seeing the files on the woman's lap, Lun realized that his personal information could have been all printed out on papers and there was no more secret about him to the female officer.

Lun seemed to suddenly think of something.

"Where is the manager? He was there when I rode back to the office. I mean...maybe I'm not the only witness. He was supposed to call the police for me..."

However, Lun stopped when he saw the woman shaking her head.

"We've investigated all around and found no witness at all. The manager you mentioned was in a store next to the corner of the street, trying to get some cigarettes at that time.

When we got there, he was still in the store, flirting with the woman on shift.

So during that period of time, you were the only one in that room. No one saw exactly what happened. "

Lun listened quietly and then went over what the woman just said in his mind.

But that missing Masami, she definitly knew something about those dark figures. I had even asked her if those dark figures were coming for her.

Regardless of whether the hand was gone or not, Lun remembered the pain when the first dark figures came up and just grabbed his arm.

But when he took a look at his left arm once again, checking every single inch of skin on arm. There wasn't even a scar left which was truly weird.

Unless the bangle had some super power which allowed it to cure his broken arm and even helped him to regenerate a new one, there was no better way to explain what had happened to him.

While Lun kept thinking about it, the woman suddenly asked:

"Just one last question. The unusual energy pulse we detected across the multiverse.

Could it be related to the bangle on your wrist?"

Lun came to his senses, thinking for a moment, and said:

"I'm not quite sure if the energy pulse you mentioned was the same thing I saw.

All I know is that those dark figures wanted the bangle, and I'm just a common ordinary citizen. I don't want to get involved in things like this. But I had no choice because of your missing colleague.

I've told you everything I know. Don't expect more from a nobody like me. You know, I'm just a courier."

  Then the woman nodded:

"Yeah, I know and I totally understand."
