Chapter 70: A Day

Path Masters are highly renowned and respected throughout the Universe.

Many powerful beings, including the Heavenly Lord, go to them if they need a custom power system.

Ever since the Chaos began invading the Verse, His Majesty has been strengthening the Verse to minimize losses. The Gift system was one of the steps taken by His Majesty, the Heavenly Lord.

After obtaining an unknown amount of Void Energy, the Path Master designed a unique system that borrows the power of the Verse itself and converts it into a blessing for people.

Due to this, a large majority of the Heavenly Gifts have effects that defy common knowledge.

For example, [Dual Soul], in the entire recorded history of the Verse, there has never been a single person who had two exact copies of their soul in a single body.

The art of splitting souls is common among those who walk the Path of Souls, and in some rare cases, these split souls can indeed form consciousness. However, in essence, they remain a part of the main soul.

But both Kenji and Keni are two separate individuals, yet they seem to be quantum entangled.

As if someone had taken a soul from a branch timeline and placed it into the body of the main timeline.

“12 gold… coins a… month, don’t… you think it’s… too much?” Entering the room that Keni rented, Kenji couldn’t help but worry.

Having been on the streets for years, Kenji had learned to always save for a rainy day.

“What are you worried about? You have around 400 gold coins. That’s like rent for more than 2 years.” Unlike Kenji, who saves the majority of his earnings, Keni wanted them to live a comfortable life.

“What… if the weapon… I like is… 390 gold coins?” Kenji tried to find a reason to question Keni's spending behavior.

“Like I said yesterday, you don't need a better weapon. That sword is just fine. Even if it does break down, we can find another one at the market. Not the Fairy Market, the other one.

Either way, you kill monsters with skills, not swords. Instead of wasting money on a weapon, you should invest in Body Refining.” Keni couldn't figure out why Kenji was fixated on buying an enchanted weapon.

“.......You are… right.” At first, Kenji wanted to refute that a sword with runes could help him kill monsters much more easily, but when he heard the latter half, it clicked.

Keni was right, he doesn't use a weapon a lot. The only time he does use the sword is when he is running low on Ki reserves.

But that rarely happens now, as his current reserves are more than six thousand. And unlike [Ki Blade], a single [Beam] only consumes a little Ki.

“I… should get… something to… eat.” Since Kenji hadn't eaten anything at all in the entire day, his stomach started growling.

“Yes! Let's go, I also wanna taste food. Will it be as good as the memories?” At the mention of food, Keni got excited.

Soon, they left the Cherry Inn and headed to the Aqua Market.

“You really do like her, don't you?” Keni asked as Kenji kept talking to Mary on the call stone.

“I don't… just like… her, I love… her.” As the call ended, Kenji declared happily.

“Eh, I wonder how that feels.” Although all of Keni’s memories were the same as Kenji's, he hadn't experienced any of them personally.

Before long, they arrived at the Aqua Market. Seeing the vibrant street full of food vendors, Keni hurriedly took control of the body and started tasting dishes one by one.

“Kenji, here, try this. It's so spicy.”

“It's… so spicy… because you ordered… extra spicy.”

“So, that's how sweets taste. No wonder we used to love them.”

  “Damn it… don't drink… hot soup… in one go.”

It wasn't long before people started noticing Kenji's strange behavior.

“Do you think he is insane?”

“We don't have a mental institute here. Do you think the Fairy doctor would be able to help?”

“Should be able to. You see this arm of mine? It was eaten by a monster, but the Fairy Doctor was able to regrow it.”

Under the questionable gazes of the people around him, Keni kept trying different foods while occasionally switching with Kenji to also let him taste.

  “Why did… you have… to act like… that? People… now think… I am insane.”

Even in the backseat, Kenji was able to hear and see everything, and during their whole tour, people kept staring at him because of Keni's behavior.

“I couldn't help it. It was my first time tasting food.”

With a stomach full of food, Kenji returned to his room and began practicing [Enforce].

“Why don't you let me try?” Keni was getting bored seeing Kenji repeat the same action for hours.

“Are… you sure? It… takes a lot of… concentration.” Although Kenji had some doubts, he still handed over control to Keni.

“Don't worry!” Happily, Keni started guiding Ki toward the chakra points. “It doesn't look all that difficult. Okay, now we have to connect them, right?”

“No, no, don't… connect the…” Seeing Keni connecting the chakra points, Kenji screamed inside his own body.

Connecting chakra points was a dangerous process, a slight mistake could lead to the chakra points exploding and putting one's life in danger.

Just as Kenji was about to pull Keni back and take control, a blazing red aura enveloped the whole body. Seeing that, Kenji paused.

Keni had successfully connected all the chakra points on his first try.

Kenji thought he was a genius, but it seemed Keni was more talented than him.

“How… did you… do it?” After a while, Kenji came to his senses and asked.

“It's easy. Here, let me show you.” Keni shared half of the control with Kenji and slowly guided him in connecting all the chakra points.

“Finally, it's… all thanks… to your… help.” Under Keni's guidance, Kenji was able to connect the chakra points on his own in the span of just half an hour.

“Kenji, where are you right now?” Just as Kenji was busy praising Keni, the call stone rang, and Anon's voice sounded from the other end.

“What's… wrong?” It wasn't unusual for anyone from Zhen's Crew to contact Kenji every now and then.

“Zhen, Joon, and I were about to grab dinner, so we were wondering, do you want to join? Did I mention it's Zhen's treat?”

“I… am a little… busy.” Kenji wouldn't have turned down a free meal, but he had already made plans with Mary.

“Zhen, Kenji says he has something to take care of. Okay! Kenji, Zhen says if you don't show up, the next meal will be on you.” After a short delay, Anon's voice sounded again.
