Electronic Target Shooter 082
In the Meiling Mountain in the suburbs of Nancheng, under the shade of green trees, there is a spacious training ground, which is the location of the Provincial Public Security Department's Police Training Center. Today, an electronic shooting range specially customized for the training center by Hanhua Industrial Company is undergoing its final debugging.
This electronic target system was carefully designed by Wei Jingwen, with a central control circuit using a Z80 chip that can simultaneously manage 16 electronic targets. Traditional shooting training requires a dedicated scorer to score the shots, which is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive but also has some safety risks. The system designed by Wei Jingwen connects sensors to different parts of the target, which produces an electrical signal when hit, and various signals are converted into digital signals and transmitted to the Z80 chip for processing before being displayed as a shooting score through light signals.
In addition to the traditional target reporting function, Wei Jingwen also added a shooting guidance function under Lin Zhenhua's inspiration, such as being able to report the degree of deviation of the bullet impact point from the target center, and similarly prompting the shooter through some kind of light signal to correct the shooting action.
After Lin Zhenhua obtained the design drawings, he took the opportunity to install the aviation circle and climbing frame for the Public Security Bureau's training center and promoted it to Director Han Tao. Han Tao was moved by Lin Zhenhua's sales pitch and immediately pulled him to find the head of the Training Department, then brought in Administrative Department Head Gao Shuyuan, and after a discussion, Gao Shuyuan and Lin Zhenhua signed another contract for Hanhua Industrial Company to build a shooting training system for the training center, with a contract value of 12,000 yuan.
This is another successful example of technology turning into money. In fact, the hardware part of this system is not worth much money at all. 16 targets, one side is a conductive metal piece, the other side is a wooden block used to buffer the bullet's impact force, plus brackets and so on, can't even use up 1000 yuan. The control circuit, apart from a $25 Z80 chip and tens of dollars worth of memory components, doesn't have anything else of value. Next to each shooting target, there is a small LCD display for the shooter to check their score, which was taken from a calculator. For these 16 displays, Lin Zhenhua purchased 16 calculators from Xinxin Store at cost price, totaling 80 yuan.
After the entire set of equipment was completed, Lin Zhenhua asked Bi Min to calculate that, including labor costs, the cost of this shooting training system was less than 20,000 yuan, and Hanhua Industrial made a profit of 10,000 yuan.
On the day of debugging, Lin Zhenhua brought Wei Jingwen, Chu Hongyang, Peng Shaozhe and several workers. In addition, there was also Lan Wufeng who had come to try out the gun. A group of police officers in uniform were also excitedly watching from the side, waiting to see the completion of this modernized equipment.
"Kobayashi, all circuits are connected, you can test drive now." Wei Jingwen walked to Lin Zhenhua's side and said to him.
Lin Zhenhua made a gesture to Han Tao: "Captain Han, you come and cut the ribbon."
Han Tao readily agreed, picked up a Type 56 semi-automatic rifle and walked to the shooting position. The diligent police officer on duty at the shooting position blew two whistles as usual and waved a small red flag several times, but there was no reaction from the target area. Han Tao smiled and said to him: "With an automatic scoring machine, I guess you should be out of work."
The police officer also laughed and said: "It's better to be unemployed, I've been thinking of going down to the police station for a long time."
"Alright, can we fire now?"
"Alright, Captain Han."
Han Tao raised his gun, stood up straight and aimed, then pulled the trigger. After the gunshot, a beep came from the opposite side, and several signal lights lit up. Lin Zhenhua smiled: "As expected of the captain, bullseye."
Han Tao also smiled triumphantly, holding his gun and firing shot after shot. The lights on the opposite side flickered on and off, repeating the same signal over and over again.
"Kobayashi, isn't our signal malfunctioning?" Wei Jingwen said anxiously from the side. In fact, this system had been repeatedly tested and was unlikely to go wrong, but Wei Jingwen's concern made him uneasy, and seeing that the signal remained the same group made him a bit apprehensive.
Lin Zhenhua comforted him, saying: "Wei Laoshi, it's okay, this is because Captain Han's marksmanship is too good, every shot is a bullseye, so they're all the same."
Han Tao fired a few shots, turned his head to look at Lin Zhenhua and asked with a smile: "Manager Lin, I heard you're a retired soldier, do you want to come and fire a few shots too?"
Lin Zhenhua asked: "I did think about it, but I don't know if it's in line with regulations."
Han Tao said: "What rules? Here, I am the rule. Testing equipment, what's the harm in firing a few shots?"
Lin Zhenhua took off his outer garment and handed it to Peng Shaozhe beside him, then walked down from the platform to Han Tao's side. Han Tao handed the gun to him, Lin Zhenhua took over the gun, and the original soul in his body woke up, he only felt that holding this gun was so natural. Han Tao handed a row of bullets to Lin Zhenhua, who skillfully loaded them, also standing upright and aiming at the target in front of him, pulling the trigger.
"Bang!"
"Good! Ten rings!" Chu Hongyang shouted loudly from behind.
"Bang!"
"Good... nine rings!" Chu Hongyang's voice was a few degrees weaker, although nine rings were also considered a good score, but others, like Captain Han, had perfect scores of ten rings, and Lin Zhenhua only got nine rings, which was somewhat embarrassing.
Lin Zhenhua turned back and smiled at everyone, raised his hand and fired another shot.
"Alas, the Eighth Ring!"
"Terrible, Seventh Ring!"
"What's wrong, Liu Huan!"
"Five Rings!"
By now, everyone has seen Lin Zhenhua's intention. He is not pursuing the position of hitting ten rings, but rather testing the reporting signals of each position one by one. Once there was a expectation, everyone got excited again and followed along loudly reporting the meaning of the signal:
"Fourth Ring!"
"Three Halos!"
"Two rings!"
"It's done! Success!"
Just after firing ten rounds, Lin Zhenhua tried all the signal lamps. He handed the empty rifle to Han Tao and smiled: "Captain Han, testing is complete, signals are correct."
"Manager Lin, your marksmanship is really impressive! I admire you!" Han Tao took the gun and gave Lin Zhenhua a thumbs up. Everyone who plays with guns respects good marksmanship, naturally earning respect from others.
"Too much credit, too much credit. It's been a long time since I played with guns and I'm a bit rusty." Lin Zhenhua replied, but in his heart, he was still quite pleased. His previous self must have been quite diligent during his time in the army to leave behind such good marksmanship, which made him very proud.
"What's wrong, want to come a few more times?"
Lin Zhenhua turned around and looked at the people he brought, saying: "Captain Han, if it doesn't violate the rules, I'd like to let these workers and masters I brought also fire a few shots. They've been eyeing them for half a day."
"Of course, it's just a test, is one target enough?" Han Tao said. Lin Zhenhua had designed such a good set of training equipment for him, and he was delighted. Firing a few shots was no big deal for others, but for him, the director of the training center, it was nothing to worry about.
"Hey, go get a few guns over here and let the workers have some fun." Han Tao ordered his subordinates.
"That's great!" Lan Wufeng led the cheers. Peng Shaozhe, Chu Hongyang and other young workers were also gun enthusiasts. Growing up, they had only held guns of the militia in their factory, but never had a chance to fire one. As children who grew up watching war movies, it could be said that none of them didn't like playing with guns. Hearing about the opportunity to shoot, how could they not be overjoyed?
The police brought several guns, took the workers to the shooting range, and taught them how to load bullets, hold the gun, aim, and shoot. The workers were tense one by one, shooting randomly, but they did test Lin Zhenhua's untested correction system, and the signal lights on the opposite side kept flashing: Left deviation! Right deviation...
"Teacher Wei, why don't you go and fire a few shots?" Lin Zhenhua asked as he walked up to Wei Jingwen.
Wei Jingwen shook his head: "No need, I've long passed the age of having a gun addiction. When I was in college, not to mention rifles, I even fired the machine guns on fighter jets."
Han Tao listened to them talking on the side and couldn't help but be shocked: "Which school did Teacher Wei graduate from, that he actually had the opportunity to fire a machine gun?"
Lin Zhenhua solemnly introduced: "Teacher Wei is the chief engineer of our company's electronic system, he graduated from the Electronic Engineering Department of Beihang University in 1962. This time your set of systems, the electronic part was all designed by Teacher Wei."
"No wonder, no wonder." Han Tao said repeatedly, "This equipment is really too good, we must thank Wei teacher sincerely."
"Wei Jingwen was also excited: 'If you think this equipment is good, then I can rest assured. I didn't expect to be able to use my expertise to do something for the country. However, don't thank me, if you want to thank someone, thank Xiao Lin instead, he gave me such an opportunity.'"
"Teacher Wei, from now on you should think more about us and develop some new equipment for us. This can also be considered as supporting national defense modernization."
"Certainly, certainly." Wei Jingwen said with a smile.
Three people were chatting, and the shooting on that side had already ended. The training center was indeed generous, letting everyone fire dozens of rounds, which was enough to satisfy their cravings. Everyone couldn't help but stop shooting because each person's shoulder was bruised red by the gun's recoil, however, all the people were smiling with joy, as if they were celebrating a holiday.
"How's everyone doing? All better now?" Han Tao asked with a chuckle.
"It's fantastic!" everyone shouted in unison.
"It's not over yet!" This was Lan Wufeng's voice. Among these people, his gun addiction was the heaviest.
Han Tao said, "No need to worry if you can't afford it, just come find me when you want to play basketball another day. Let's go eat, but I must remind you that our cafeteria conditions are average, the public security system is very poor, so we can't afford to treat everyone to drinks."
"Who can let Captain Han treat, today's meal, no one else will rob me, I'll invite everyone to drink." Lan Wufeng said loudly. In fact, this sentence was originally what Lin Zhenhua wanted to say, but unexpectedly let Lan Wufeng take the lead.
"Alright, let Fengzi treat us then." Lin Zhenhua said, he knew that Lan Wufeng had received a dividend of 10,000 to 20,000 yuan more than half a year ago, so treating them to a meal shouldn't be a problem. He turned his head and asked Han Tao: "Captain Han, are there any better restaurants around here?"
Han Tao somewhat embarrassedly replied: "Actually, there is one, a privately run restaurant, the storefront is very simple, a few dishes are stir-fried quite well... however, you're guests, how can we let you spend money?"
Lin Zhenhua said, "You've invited us to satisfy our gun cravings, and our comrades have also voluntarily served as shooting instructors for everyone. It's only right that you treat us to a thank-you dinner."
"We'd be too embarrassed then." Han Tao said with a mix of reluctance and resignation.
