Epiphany

  Chapter Fifteen: Epiphany

The purple glow coming from the top of the stairs shimmered as Viktor rushed up them, sunspots in his vision from the brightness. He achieved the final step needed to reach the top. What he saw made him gasp in awe. There was a hole in the top-right corner of the building, where purple orbs dashed and left trails upon the air, leaking purple viscous gas, the same he had seen when his friend disappeared. Glitchy substances flashed like lightning, the concrete and bricks around the hole were in chaos as though they were no longer held together by solid matter.

“Oh, no,” Viktor thought in shock. “This is bad. Like, really bad.”

Just as he thought that nothing could get any worse, a crack appeared stagnant in mid-air. Then it began to shake. More cracks appeared in proximity to the one Viktor first saw. Then… everything went white. It was an eerie silence, sort of like a wave washing over everything. In eruptions of antimatter, reality crumbled in on itself.
