Chapter 8: The City A Blaze

Bella gave a small smile when she felt the familiar presence of Reza, who in normal playful fashion slipped her arm through Bella's, making a cheerful show of being excited for the exercise, "Today's the day you ready for this Lady Bella or should I say captain now?" Nodding in the affirmative as she laughed at the joke, the two slowed their pace, allowing the others to move past and around them before they broke apart down several side alleys.

This was a very delicate part of their plan. Each woman and child rotated in and out of the throng, placing charges in inconspicuous areas and laying the connecting lines to be ignited by the cannon's firing once they took the ship out. Rejoining the other women and children. Making her way back to the front of the group. Bella led the way up the gangplank.

Taking a deep breath, she shouted out orders, "Any non-needed cadets get below deck prep the cannons to fire on the city, Get as many of the sails open as we can we're going to need as much speed as we can get." Thankful that one of the backers's been a military man and thought a mock firing on the city with what was to be fireworks, but the women had been very careful about making sure they were really cannon balls.

As she shouted out the orders, Bella made her way to the helm of the ship. Once they drew in the boom chains. Bella steered the ship away from the coast. Giving the all clear to Reza. The Kuraiain made her way down bellow and bellowed out the order to fire. Cannons ringing out and struck the docks and the other parts of the city. The charges laid, setting off a chain reaction, causing the spiral city to light up in flames and alarms ringing out. Bella could just make out as those on shore running toward the city and, like she hoped, many of the sailors headed towards the city behind them to help extinguish the flames inside the port instead of following them.
